Summer's Here?

We took Alex to the pool this past weekend and quite by mistake, we left the "floaties" at home. Wouldn't you know that girl swam the short length of the pool without them!?!?! She was swimming in a totally vertical position, but she did it! Now we just have to work on her putting her head in the water (thus the vertical position). We did eventually go back to get the floaties, but she's on her way to being a swimmer. I love having access to a pool! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

This is what happens when there's only one person hunting for Easter Eggs AND you have a small back yard!

This and That

Yesterday we went to Bounce U which is one of those places that's a big warehouse filled with bouncy houses. It was a fundraiser for Alex's school and she'd been asking about it for over a week. Every day she'd say, "Is today the day I go to Bounce U?" The concept of time is completely lost on a 4 1/2 year old. I kept having to tell her that she had to wait till Melissa (our babysitter who comes on Tuesdays) came to our house again and THEN we'd be going to Bounce U. In all, it was a fun afternoon but for all the noise of the fans that keep the bouncy houses inflated. I snuck out into the lobby a couple times just for some relief.

Easter is fast-approaching and I've no idea what we are doing yet. What are you doing?

Alex and Sean

A couple of weeks ago Scott's friend Bill came over with his son Sean and the boys took the kids to the park near our house. Here are a few pictures of the kids playing.
We were just down at the circle in Orange throwing coins in the fountain and I told Alex that she had to make a wish before she threw in the penny. She said that she wished everyone would love her.

More Videos

Ok, so now that I've worked out how to post these darn things, here are a couple more. The first one is from Alex's last ice skating session. She took 4 lessons through Parks and Recreation and is now "skating." Her teacher was really good. All the kids started on chairs and practiced scooting themselves across the ice with their feet (while seated), then graduated to pushing the chairs across the ice to eventually ditching the chairs all together and "marching and gliding" across. She also had each child throw a Beanie Baby that they had to go pick up to help them move across the ice. It was amazing to see how quickly each child progressed. The video was taken after her last lesson when the two of us were skating on our own.

This video is just me braggin' about our Sweet Pea. :)

Alex missed her gymnastics lesson last Monday, so we went on Saturday instead.  She loves her class and is really good!  The teacher was showing them how to do a handstand, and Alex almost got her feet above her head.  Of course she wasn't able to keep them there, but she could hold herself up!  She's so strong and is much better suited for gymnastics than dance.  We go again today, her regular class day.  I wonder what's in store?

Other than that, we had a quiet weekend.  Went to the beach yesterday, but only to play at the playground and have an ice cream cone.  Alex wanted to ride the carousel and did NOT want me to come with her.  Luckily for her, this carousel had really small horses that she could ride by herself.  I sat a cried while she was going around and around because she didn't want/need me to go with her.  She's do darn independent!  Oh well, I guess that's better than the alternative.  Happy Monday all!
